Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has called on governments to move their stock exchanges to a tokenized format and to launch national stablecoins. The rollout of sovereign blockchains will be the next stage in the evolution of the crypto industry. The entrepreneur made these recommendations following official meetings with leaders and financial regulators of Asian countries.

The businessman laid out his initiative in detail on social media. Tokenizing securities will give global investors round-the-clock access to local markets. At the same time, issuing state digital coins will strengthen the position of local currencies within decentralized networks.

Why Zhao proposes tokenizing stocks

According to Zhao, the recommendations emerged after meetings with leaders and regulators of a number of Asian countries. He noted that the dialogue has already produced good results, but did not specify which governments the talks were held with.

Zhao’s main idea is tied to the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA). Tokenized stocks turn the ordinary securities of companies into tokens on a blockchain that trade 24/7. This approach has already begun to be implemented in practice.

Supporters of the initiative believe that the format simplifies cross-border ownership of shares, speeds up settlement and lowers barriers for foreign investors. As of the time of writing, no country has moved all of its stock exchanges to a tokenized model.

The RWA segment is growing rapidly. By mid-2026, the volume of tokenized real-world assets on public blockchains exceeded $32 billion — a year earlier that figure was about $6 billion, according to RWA.xyz.

Exchanges are already trading tokenized stocks and ETFs tied to large U.S. companies. Boston Consulting Group believes that by 2030 the market for tokenized assets could grow to $16 trillion.
