Aster expands its token buyback program – the price rises 10%
Aster DEX announced a major tokenomics update on June 17, 2026 — now 99% of all the exchange’s daily fees are automatically directed to buying back $ASTER from the market for the benefit of veASTER holders, and an equal amount of tokens will be burned until the total supply shrinks to 3 billion.
This scheme strengthens the current revenue-redistribution strategy, tying the token’s price to the activity of traders on one of the fastest-growing perpetual-contract platforms. On the back of this news, the price of ASTER rose by more than 10%.
An aggressive buyback scheme funded by fees
Under the new system, 99% of Aster’s daily fees are automatically converted into tokens via TWAP over the course of the day and sent to an on-chain address (0xa0edBaBcb48034e368de286b49F9603C7AfA1b60) available for verification.
All bought-back tokens go into the Loyalty Rewards pool, which supplements the already existing base pool of 300,000 $ASTER — distributed in proportion to the weight of veASTER locks.

Each bought-back token is offset by burning the same amount from the reserves — primarily from team allocations.
The burns will take place once every two weeks and will continue until the total supply falls to the target value — 3 billion.
An additional incentive comes from new Spot listings: with each such listing the fee amounts to 50,000 USDT, which also goes toward buying back tokens.
Current supply
Before Aster’s launch, the total supply stood at 8 billion. As of June 17, 2026:
- Total supply: ~7.82 billion
- Circulating supply: ~2.68–2.70 billion
- Earlier buybacks and burns have already removed tens of millions of tokens from the market, and the cumulative volume of buybacks funded by fees previously exceeded hundreds of millions of dollars. coingecko.com
The update increased the share of fees directed to buybacks from the previous 70–80% to practically the full amount, which benefits token holders.
