On December 20, the Winklevoss twins' cryptocurrency wallet increased their fortune to nearly two billion dollars: 1.3 billion in bitcoins and another 350 million dollars in other cryptocurrencies, mainly in Ethereum. In an interview with The New York Times Bitcoin billionaires told what steps they are taking to protect their fortunes.

The twins started considering about the safe storage of their wealth with the rise of Bitcoin. After several hacker attacks on their wallets, Winklevoss printed out cryptographic keys that provide access to Bitcoin wallet. Then they cut it into several pieces placing each fragments in a separate envelope and sent to bank cells in all states of America.

The twins explain the reliability of such scheme by the fact that even if an attacker receives a piece of code, he/she will not be able to steal funds. A similar system is used by the Gemini cryptocurrency exchange, founded by the Winklevoss twins.

Today,the twins continue to keep Bitcoins and do not intend to sell it. Tyler Winklevoss stated:


For the first time the Winklevoss twins invested in Bitcoin in 2012, when it had cost about $ 10. In 2013, they invested in the cryptocurrency all the money from the compensation made by Mark Zuckerberg on the results of the court on intellectual property rights on Facebook.

In early December, Cameron Winklevoss stated that the price of Bitcoin is able to rise about another 20 times.
