A test launch of the Sideshift cryptocurrency exchange app has been carried out. The app was developed for exchanging digital assets between different platforms. The promo video was presented by Andreas Becker, who works on development in the Drivechain project. As an example, the video showed a real exchange of BTC for USDT using the Lightning Network. The exchange was conducted via a mobile device running on the Android OS. The cryptocurrencies being exchanged were stored in the accounts of the Eclair mobile wallet.

At the moment the app cannot be put into operation, but the developers decided to introduce users to the new features at an early stage of the app's creation and to give them the opportunity to test some of the system's features themselves. However, not everyone who wished to do so was admitted to the trial work in the Sideshift app. This opportunity was provided only to the project's Twitter subscribers who have been members of the Bitcointalk forum for at least two years.

As reported, Sideshift in many ways resembles Shapeshift, an already well-known platform program, but with Sideshift there is no need to undergo verification. The app also has restrictions by region of use. In particular, users from the United States and North Korea are not allowed to experiment with it.

The author of the Drivechain project, within which the Sideshift and Shapeshift apps were created, is considered to be Paul Sztorc, a well-known developer in the bitcoin industry. In addition, Paul Sztorc leads research at the company Tierion.
