Negative dynamics of conducting ICO campaigns have been recorded compared to the data for December of last year. Based on data collected by a rating agency on campaigns for the initial placement of tokens completed by mid-January, the number of completed initial offerings amounted to only a third of the total number for the last month of 2018. Moreover, of all the funds raised, half was raised by a single startup.

ICObench in its report notes that in the first two weeks 150 ICO campaigns were completed. However, the raised amount of $160 million does not at all cover the hard cap amount, which according to the calculations presented by the project developers is about $4 billion. The researchers in this regard explain that of all 150 campaigns only three were able to raise the necessary funds they were counting on.

The report draws attention to the overall negative dynamics in the appearance of new projects. According to the researchers, the number of new startups is decreasing every month. In the ranking compiled by ICObench on the finances raised by ICO projects, a Canadian startup that accumulated $80 million took first place. The most campaigns were expectedly registered in the USA – 8 crowdsales.

It is also worth mentioning a previously conducted BitMEX study that demonstrated that the tokens of 2018 crowdsales lost 54% of their value.
