Fraudulent schemes in the cryptocurrency world are no news at all. But recognizing them is sometimes not at all easy. Thus, Ethereum scam forks are in fact engaged in phishing private keys from users, offering the latter to take part in a free coin giveaway. Such projects include, as Cointelegraph reports, fraudulent projects such as Ethereum Nowa (ETN) and Ethereum Classic Vision (ETCV).

On the website of the Ethereum Nowa project there is no white paper, however a sequence of actions is described that users are invited to perform in order to receive ETN coins. In particular, they are advised to send ether to a certain address, then export the private key and receive the fork coins using a special online tool.

One of the users left a comment on the Etherscan service for the corresponding address: «Do not send anything here. Scam fork/airdrop»

The tool itself, offered for receiving the coins, is a clone of the MyEtherWallet Ethereum wallet. It has many design elements of the popular wallet, the only difference being the domain.

Another scam project — Ethereum Classic Vision — contains a whitepaper. It states that the hard fork will supposedly take place today, January 11, at 20:00 GMT. The project's website contains links to wallets for Windows and Linux.

According to specialists from the Guarda Wallet project, this project is also engaged in appropriating private keys: «The code analysis conducted by our team showed that part of it is in fact responsible for transmitting your private keys to the Ethereum Classic Vision servers under the guise of an API token»
