A buy wall is a very large order or a dense cluster of buy orders for an asset at close prices that stands out noticeably in the exchange order book. Such a "wall" forms a visible support level: for the price to fall below it, the market must first fill the entire volume of buy orders.

A buy wall may reflect genuinely high demand, but it is often used as a tool to influence the market. A manipulator can simultaneously place a buy wall and a sell wall, holding the price within the desired range and giving other participants a false impression of the direction of supply and demand.

Why a buy wall is used

• To create the appearance of strong support and hold back a price decline.
• To influence traders' psychology and their decisions.
• To keep the price within a set price corridor.
• To simulate level breakouts, provoking a market reaction.

Since large orders can be canceled before they are filled, the presence of a buy wall by itself does not guarantee the stability of a level. Experienced market participants view such walls critically and do not rely on them as an unconditional signal.
