A hardware wallet (Hardware wallet) is a special physical device designed for the secure storage of a user's private keys. The keys are generated and stored inside a secure chip and do not leave the device even at the moment of signing a transaction. Thanks to this, hardware wallets are classified as cold storage and are considered one of the most reliable solutions.

Why a hardware wallet is considered secure

The main advantage is that the private keys are isolated from a computer or smartphone connected to the internet. Even if the working device is infected with malware, an attacker does not gain direct access to the keys.

• the keys are stored in a secure hardware module;
• confirmation of an operation takes place on the device itself;
• access is additionally protected by a PIN code and a backup phrase.

When using one, it is important to buy the device from official sellers, store the backup (seed) phrase reliably, and not disclose it to anyone. A hardware wallet substantially reduces risks but does not eliminate the need to follow basic rules of digital hygiene.
