Satoshi Nakamoto (Satoshi Nakamoto) is the pseudonym of the creator of bitcoin. Under this name, in late 2008, a technical document was published describing the operating principle of decentralized electronic cash without intermediaries, and in early 2009 the network's first block, the genesis block, was launched. The identity behind the pseudonym remains unestablished, and there is no reliable confirmation that it refers to a single person rather than a group of developers.

Role in the history of cryptocurrencies

Nakamoto not only formulated the concept of the blockchain as a chain of blocks secured by a proof-of-work mechanism, but also personally took part in developing the code and in forum discussions during the early years. This work laid the foundation for an entire industry of digital assets and decentralized finance.

Several years after launching the project, the author withdrew from public activity, handing over maintenance of the code to other members of the community. It is believed that a significant amount of bitcoins remains on the early addresses associated with Nakamoto, which have never been moved. The anonymity of the creator is perceived by many as a symbol of decentralization: the project continues to exist without dependence on a specific leader.
