Ireland to tighten checks on the origin of crypto assets
The Irish government has classified crypto assets among sectors with "very significant" risks of money laundering and terrorism financing. The authorities also pointed to the threats of sanctions evasion, tax control problems and the use of crypto assets to bribe officials.
By the second half of 2027, Ireland intends to develop an industry standard for cases where funds linked to crypto assets are accepted as a source of capital origin. The goal is to ensure the verification and confirmation of the legitimacy of such funds.
