Germany to Test Communications Based on Quantum Keys
Germany has launched the CHIRON project to build a scalable infrastructure for secure data transmission based on quantum key distribution (QKD). The consortium will deploy test sites in Berlin and Thuringia and integrate quantum communications into the existing digital infrastructure.
The German state-owned company Bundesdruckerei, which specializes in secure documents and digital identification, will test quantum-secured access tokens for users from the public sector, critical infrastructure, and financial services. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.
