The most promising cryptocurrencies on the PoS protocol

Cryptocurrencies based on blockchain technology require general consensus of their community, since they assume the absence of regulating central authorities. Changes in the distributed ledger of blockchain networks must be agreed upon by the majority of people in that community. In order to reach such consensus, blockchains most often use Proof of Work or Proof of Stake algorithms.

In general, both algorithms are designed to show that certain work has been done to verify a particular transaction, and that it is not fake. If you are choosing coins with the more modern PoS protocol, then ideally you probably want to get the best of them. In this article we will talk about the most promising cryptocurrencies on the PoS protocol, which according to profitability forecasts for 2019 occupy leading positions, and are therefore worthy of taking their place in your crypto portfolio.

1. DASH (DASH) is a very popular cryptocurrency, which is also often called Digital Cash, and which was one of the first digital currencies to move to implementing the PoS consensus mechanism. DASH is a unique cryptocurrency that used the core Bitcoin code, adding additional privacy features and speeding up transactions through the InstantSend and PrivateSend protocols. DASH positions itself as decentralized electronic money and claims the same liquidity as real fiat money - the dollar, euro, pound or yen that we usually use.

2. NEO (NEO) is a coin from a leading Chinese blockchain startup. They call themselves a "decentralized network for the smart economy". The name NEO refers simultaneously to the startup, the coin, and the blockchain. Besides NEO, the system allows the use of another coin called GAS.

3. Lisk (LSK) is a platform that allows anyone to create decentralized applications based on the javascript programming language. Usually most blockchains require knowledge of the Solidity language, however Lisk implies the creation of applications in a simpler and more widespread language.

4. Ark (ARK) - a fork of the Lisk cryptocurrency, is a service that allows blockchains to be connected using SmartBridge technology. Just as in Lisk, APK uses a "delegated" PoS, although this blockchain so far has only 51 delegates.

5. Stratis (STRAT) is a business-oriented blockchain. It is designed for those who want to develop their own blockchain application, but at the same time do not have special knowledge and skills in blockchain. Stratis is compatible with C # and other well-known programming languages. In addition, Stratis is distinguished by good scalability, as it can use sidechains to verify transactions. This project also moved from PoW to PoS.

6. Reddcoin (RDD) aims to become a coin for social networks. Using the Reddcoin cryptocurrency, users can reward anyone for creating interesting content on social networks. This is a PoS cryptocurrency that can also be moved to a regular cryptocurrency wallet.

7. PIVX (PIVX) stands for "private instant verified transactions" and is considered a privacy token – a fork of DASH that was launched in 2016. Unlike most other PoS projects, PIVX has no restrictions on the starting stake of coins, which allows any amount to be added to the system.

8. OkCash (OK) is a cryptocurrency startup that was founded in 2014, and which was one of the first to start applying PoS. The coin offers a controlled way of processing transactions and aims to become a universal payment system. Like many, the project started with PoW before the coin switched to PoS.

9. NAVCoin (NAV) is a unique coin that uses two blockchains. Like OkCash, NAV started in 2014 and took the Bitcoin code as a basis. The "double blockchain" is used to speed up transactions and improve their security.

10. Neblio (NEBL) is a next-generation blockchain solution that allows the creation of tools and services so that any companies can create fast and secure blockchain networks for themselves. Neblio is also based on the PoS mechanism to protect the data of the networks being created.
